Save the Date for the 2024 Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation International Family Conference
We are so excited to announce the dates and location for our 2024 International Family Conference! We haven’t been together since 2018, and there are hundreds of new families that have joined PMSF since then, so we are looking forward to a wonderful week of connection, new friends, sharing, learning, and fun for the whole family.
Many factors weigh into the selection of a location. Some of these include the best summer climate for our community, proximity to a major U.S. airport, an interesting attraction nearby, adequate meeting space, a good amount of affordable rooms, enough room for our amazing daycare provider, and of course, a safe location. We also look at where you all live and how many families are relatively nearby, since we know flying can be a challenge.
I know… you just want the deets, right? ( If you’ve never been to a PMSF conference, though, be sure to read through as we have more great news for you!)
We are entering an agreement with the Radisson Blu at the Mall of the Americas, in Bloomington, MN, for July 17-20, 2024. The modern hotel literally connects to the mall, with plenty to do, and lots of room for walking under air, and a free airport shuttle.There are nearby parks and trails too. Check out the links at the bottom of this email to get a look at the hotel and mall.
We are also delighted to partner with the not-for-profit Kyle’s Angels, founded by the Thorson Family. Through making angel ornaments named after their son Kyle who lives with Phelan-McDermid syndrome, then traveling and selling them at craft fairs, as well as holding auctions, t-shirt sales, and more, Kelley and Don work tirelessly to raise funds to pay the hotel costs for first time attendees. When applications for this program are open, we will make sure you have everything you need to apply, but we wanted you to know about this wonderful organization now so you can save the dates and start your planning!
