CANDID , Consortium for Autism, Neurodevelopmental Disorders & Digestive Diseases, was a collaboration between patient advocacy groups, scientists, clinicians, and research organizations that is focused on addressing gastrointestinal dysfunction in patients with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism, was a success! This conference was focused on GI disorders in people with neurodevelopmental disorders. Families from more than 20 rare diseases, scientists, clinicians, and industry representatives attended. We discussed the challenges to better detect and treat GI disorders in people with neurodevelopmental disorders. We convened working groups of scientists and clinicians to tackle the following areas: medical education, data collection, and the development of new tools for detecting GI disorders in people with neurodevelopmental disorders.
