Registration is open for our second support group topic, Coping With the Grief From the Loss of a Child. This support group will be open only to those caregivers in our community who have lost a child or adult with Phelan-McDermid syndrome.
This support group is dedicated to providing solace and support for caregivers who have tragically experienced the loss of their child or adult with Phelan-McDermid syndrome.
This group provides a welcoming and supportive place to listen, share, and offer comfort and understanding with others who grieve the loss of their own child with Phelan-McDermid syndrome.
This 90-minute group will meet monthly through October, with the next group meeting opportunity on Friday, September 22nd at 5:00pm EST. Dr. Al Freedman, Ph.D will facilitate this group. Please note that the sessions are in English.
We are pleased to be able offer this support to the bereaved caregivers in our community.
What to expect from the “Coping With the Grief From the Loss of a Child” Support Group…
- Tailored to the needs and interests of the group, the topics will be customized to ensure meaningful discussions.
- Sharing in the group is completely optional, allowing individuals to participate at their own pace and comfort level.
- Participants have the freedom to choose whether or not to have their camera on during the group sessions.
- These support groups serve as a valuable complement to clinical services, providing additional emotional support and understanding.
- The focus of the groups is on fostering a supportive community, while the facilitators offer guidance rather than being Phelan-McDermid syndrome experts.
