Neuropsychiatric Pharmacological Recommendations; 2024

We are excited to release 2024 updates to our Pharmacologic Recommendations, which were recently finalized by our Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Neuropsychiatric Consultation Group (PMS-NCG).

The Phelan-McDermid syndrome Pharmacological Recommendations describe treatment suggestions for individuals who have Phelan-McDermid syndrome and also carry a diagnosis of ADHD, Sleep Disturbance, Irritability and Aggression, Mood Cycling, and/or Catatonia.

Please note that these are recommendations that are meant to be used as a guide for your child’s medical team as they make decisions about managing your child’s care. Parents and caregivers may share these recommendations with their healthcare providers.  Medical professionals may refer to these algorithms when designing a care plan for their Phelan-McDermid syndrome patients. You and your child’s team know your child best. These recommendations are not intended to be direct medical advice and these recommendations are not established as “evidence-based”. If your child’s team would like to consult with our NCG team, please fill out the Access Form at the bottom of this page.
